SUMMARY:SEHA General meeting
DESCRIPTION:The first SEHA meeting for 2026  is on Sunday\, February 15\,  2026 at 1.30 pm\, hosted by the Narre Warren & District Family History Group. Venue: NWDFHG\, 110 High Street\, Berwick. \nVenue – NWDFHG\, 110 High Street\, Berwick.\nIf you haven’t been here before it can be a bit tricky to find – it is a cream brick building\, set back from High Street and next to the Berwick Neighbourhood Centre and behind the Masonic Hall and the old Church of Christ. There is parking.\nHow to find it: The NWDFHG rooms are near the roundabout at the top of High Street in Berwick. If coming from the west (Melbourne)\, do a u-turn on the roundabout\, then take the first and only driveway on the left hand side (between the Masonic Hall and the old Church of Christ).\nIf coming from the east the driveway is signposted ‘Berwick Neighbourhood Centre’\, if you miss that\, the next driveway is an exit (even though I have been informed that people use that\, if they feel reckless enough) and then the next driveway you can use is the one between the old Church of Christ and the Masonic Hall. \nLunch from 12 noon – We have decided on a BYO lunch\, from 12 noon at the NWDFHG rooms. Tea and coffee provided\, there is a microwave\, some cutlery and crockery\, but consider bringing all you need. Or buy lunch at one of the many cafes in Berwick. Afternoon tea will be provided after the meeting. \nMeeting at 1.30pm. \nSecretary Heather Arnold –  harnold@dcsi.net.au \n

SUMMARY:NWDFHG meeting - Family Search Full-Text Search
DESCRIPTION:The Narre Warren and District Family History Group invite you to their general meeting. The guest speaker is Alan Fleming from FamilySearch who is going to show how the Full-Text Search tool from FamilySearch will transform your family history research. FamilySearch’s Full-Text Search is a tool that lets you search almost 2 billion historical records that haven’t been indexed yet. It uses AI to read and interpret text directly from document images. Available collections include nearly every type of historical record imaginable\, from church registers and court documents to military files\, newspapers\, personal letters\, land deeds\, and more. \nThe regular search looks at data that has been transcribed and indexed. In many projects\, this might be just a small portion of the document—often just a name and date. Full-Text Search\, by contrast\, scans the entire document. It lets you search the full sentences and paragraphs that usually go untouched in a regular indexing project. \nAlan’s presentation will commence at 7.30 pm followed by a short break and the business part of the meeting. Visitors are always welcome. \nVenue: 110 High Street\, Berwick. Cost $5.00. More information: secretary@nwfhg.org.au
