Hastings-Western Port Historical Society – Dennis Mirabella – A Lifetime in the Fishing Industry

Hastings-Western Port Historical Society invite you to their Morning Coffee.

Guest Speaker – Dennis Mirabella – A Lifetime in the Fishing Industry: His family connection to fishing in Hastings goes back 150 years. Dennis began working for his father before building his own boats and fishing in the open waters of Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean. In the late 1970s Dennis became involved in fishing industry politics, representing Victorian fishermen and involving himself in their safety.  He even represented Australia’s fishing industry at the United Nations. Now 90 years of age, he has published a book about his life and Dennis will speak about this.

When: Wednesday, July 16 at 10.00 am. Entrance Fee – Members: $5; Non Members: $7. Small Door Prize – Lucky Dip Raffle. Venue: Hastings Museum, Cnr of Marine Parade and Skinner Street, Hastings.
