‘Optimism, Opportunities and Achievement’: a reflection on the Centenary of Local Government in Dandenong in 1973 exhibition.
Have you ever wondered about life in Dandenong in the 1970’s? Come and visit the latest exhibition at Heritage Hill to explore the growing and thriving Dandenong community that, while emerging as an industrial and manufacturing powerhouse, retained the easy ambience of a country town. With steady employment and a growing population, families enjoyed a sense of security and optimism.
An exhibition that further explains why Local Government changed from a focus on roads, infrastructure and governance to one that today supports, cares and celebrates our communities.
The exhibition features items from the City of Greater Dandenong Civic and Cultural Heritage Collection, collections from Dandenong & District Historical Society Inc. and the Springvale & District Historical Society Inc.
This free exhibition will be on display until 31 May at Benga, Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens, Wednesday – Friday 10.00 – 2.00pm.
